HS Girls Track Team wins the Conference Championship of the Kaskaskia Division

The high school girls track team competed at the Cahokia Conference Championships this past Wednesday May 6th at Freeburg HS. The Greyhounds ran away with the Conference Championship for the Kaskaskia Division by scoring 147 team points while Dupo came in 2nd at 104pts! Every team member came away with at least 1 medal which was awarded to the top 3 finishing individuals or relay teams. Congratulations to our jh track athletes who qualified for the SIJHSAA State Track Meet at Murphysboro High School on May 9th!8th grader Maverick Wilkins qualified in 3 events.He placed 2nd in the high jump with a height of 5’0He placed 2nd in the 100 M hurdles with a time of 15.7He placed 2nd in the 400 with a time of 59.9Ava Garbe qualified with a 2nd place finish in the 800M with a time of 2:32Ava Garbe Harper Burress, Holland Burress and Gracelyn Trivett also qualified by placing 2nd in the 4x400 Relay with a time of 4:43Great job by all of our jh track athletes at the regional meet in Breese. Many athletes placed in the top 6 of their events earning points for their team.

HS cheer tryouts this week April 27, 29 and 30

Reminder that HS cheer tryouts are this week Monday April 27, Wednesday April 29 and Thursday April 30 from 3:30-5:30 in the hs commons. All students from grades 8th-11th are eligible to try out as long as they have a current athletic physical on file with the school district. HS Baseball knocks off East Alton Wood River

Congratulations to our HS Baseball team on their first win of the year over East Alton Wood River 12-0 in 5 innings. They are now 1-4 and start conference play at Valmeyer next Tuesday.

I am proud to share with you some new weight room editions that we have added over spring break for our students and athletes. This will allow us to continue to offer the opportunity for our students and athletes to learn how to take care of their bodies and to maximize the opportunity to get bigger, faster and stronger.Thanks to Mrs. Emrick and Mrs. Venhaus for securing some finances, I was able to purchase 4 new ½ rack weight stations, 4 new benches and a set of plate weights. Previously this fall we were able to add a treadmill, exercise bike, elliptical and a rack of weighted slam balls.This is the first step in expanding and updating our current weight room so that all students will have an opportunity to learn how to workout properly and so that our athletes can maximize their potential.I want to thank TJ Wheeler from BSN Sports for working with me on this project and coming in to help put the ½ racks together as well as teacher Paul Saettele and his daughter Emmi for helping wit

High School Cheerleading Tryout Dates

All students in grades 8 through 11 are invited to tryout for the high school cheerleading team. There will be 3 days of tryouts, April 27th, 29th and 30th. All athletes who tryout must have an updated physical on file at the school. Tryout times will be from 3:30-5:30 in the high school gym. JH Bowling State Bowlers bowl well!

We would like to take a minute and congratulate our 3 junior high bowlers who bowled this past Saturday in the SIJHSAA State Tournament at St Clair Bowl in O'Fallon.8th grader Ava Garbe was our highest finisher as an individual bowler. She place 17th out of 80 individuals, just missing 15ht place by 13 pins which would have earned her a medal. Ava finished with a 159 average for 6 games that day. The state champion was from Smithton, Annmarie Duff, who won by 43 pins with a 213 average.We had 2 qualifiers for the boys, 8th grader Colby Casperson and 6th grader Masen Davis.Colby finished 29th out of 80 qualifying individuals with a 173 average for 6 games. Masen finished in a tie for 55th out of 80 bowlers with a 157 average.Good job bowlers and our coaches. We are very proud of our Greyhounds!

Junior high bowling teams wrap up a very successful regular season!

From Coach Stark:That's a wrap on the regular season. Our girls JV team won the divisional title, boys varsity tied for 1st place in their division, JV boys placed 2nd and varsity girls placed third in their divisions! Best of all, we are very young and still improving. As you can tell we have a great attitude and have a lot of fun! They will travel to Carterville Saturday morning to play in a big tournament to get them ready for next week. Playoffs for boys is on Monday, playoffs for girls are Tuesday and Regional at next Saturday at Bowl Have in Alton.Great job coaches, bowlers and parents. Very exciting to see these young bowlers doing so well, they future is bright for Lebanon Bowling!

Senior Night and Victory over Valmeyer!

Congratulations to our seniors from band, cheerleading and boys basketball. We had their recognition night at the boys basketball game vs Valmeyer. We recognized Albina Sadvakasova(band), Eric Negura-Damian(basketball) DeVaugn Ware(basketball), Connor Rawus(bowling), Kyran Sheeley(bowling) and Leonie Boucard(cheerleading). We also had our Jr. Greyhound 4th grade team scrimmage at 1/2 time and then had a great ending to the night with a 67-57 win over Valmeyer. This gave the boys a 13-17 overall record for the regular season with the most wins since 2015-16. Great job players and coaches!
